Resonators for space-saving applications

You need ceramic resonators for a space-saving application? The advantage of resonators over oscillating crystals is a reduced need for external circuitry, since the necessary capacitors are already built in.

Resonators are used in a similar way to oscillating crystals. They do not have their frequency accuracy and stability, but they are more robust against mechanical stress and less expensive. For our resonators, too, we can promise our customers a long-term delivery guarantee of 20 years and beyond in some cases.

What are resonators?

Ceramic resonators are electronic components made of piezoceramics.

In conjunction with an electronic oscillator circuit, the resonator determines the oscillation frequency and the circuit generates an output signal with a specific frequency. Similar to a crystal, it is used in an oscillator circuit to generate clock signals to control timing in electronic circuits.

What are resonators needed for?

Mainly resonators are used as clock signal generators for microprocessors, where the accuracy of the frequency is not so important.

They are also widely used in:

  • Communication devices
  • Automotive Electronics
  • Medical devices
  • Telephones
  • Toys
  • Computers
  • Household appliances
  • Radios
